PC'S Are Not Always My Friend!!

Okay, so it has taken me almost 45 minutes to get logged on to my gmail account just so I could post  this. It must be the Halloween Spirits working against me here at Sue's Java. So Happy Halloween to all! More later, that is, if I can get back in here.

First Attempt Not so bad!

This is the cut out fabric
I guesstamated as to how big I wanted the size of the pillow to be. Then cut out two pieces. I made the piping and stitched it to one of the pieces first. Then I came back with the other square and sewed them all together leaving an opening at the bottom to fill with polyester stuffing. Once it was filled to my liking, I hand stitched it closed.

After I checked it closely for any mistakes, I had Tim (who sews all the time at his work), look at it. Wouldn't you know it, he found a boo boo. But with a bit of hand stitching I fixed it and will know not to make the same mistake on the next one.
I made the Piping from the same fabric

I sewed it on to one piece of the fabric first

All done.

Trying something new!

I figured since I have some spare time on my hands before I return back to work, I would try my hand at a fun project. I have been looking for "French" looking pillows to put in the guest room that once housed "Sweet Child of Mine" Laney. But now that she has moved out I decided to remodel it in a French decor'.
I have been going to garage sales picking up items here and there but haven't found the pillows I like. Now I could go and buy them in a store or on line, but the cost is a bit more than I'd like to spend. So....
after doing some investigating on line, I went to my local Joann's Fabric store and found some material that I really liked. I also bought some ribbon to add to some of the pillows.
I am going to be daring and not use a pattern! My Dad always told me, "if all else fails, follow the directions". So we shall see..
In the photo is the fabric I purchased. So, I will post photos of my progress along the way, and the final results. So check back to see how it goes!

Barn Sale Finds

This is made heavey metal with the glass blown out around it.

The two in the back are made from cast iron, the tin has differant pictures on all four sides.
So here are a few things I found yesterday at the "Barn Sale". I spent a total of $18.00 for all three items. Not bad if you ask me.

Treasure Hunting I Have Gone

I found out about this great "Barn Sale" last Saturday so I marked my the date and went this morning! It was fabulous. So many vendors for the first time that was selling things I LOVE. I will have to add the pictures of the items I purchased tomorrow.
Even though I have never been to one of the "Farm Chicks" sales, I have seen photos and it was very much like what they put on. Here in Redding California of all places! They plan to have this event twice a year, spring and fall. Can't wait till Spring!!

Garage Sale Time Even Though I'm Not Ready

So tomorrow is the first garage sale of several to come. There is just so much "stuff", it will be hard to keep track of everything. But I have Laney helping, (she gets half of the earnings) What's wrong with that picture?
I just hope we get rid of a lot of it because I don't want to have to store it until the next one.
I know this will be a very stressful time for me, it always is. That is why I bought some "brownies" to help get me through it. I know I know, that isn't what I should be doing, but at least I only bought 4. I will try to make them last. Besides, I have a feeling that will be my breakfast and lunch!
I suppose I should go to bed now so I can get up at the crack of dawn and turn away all the so called "early birds".

OMG Not The Garage Yet!

Woke up this morning hoping Laney would get her packed boxes out of the hall way and into the garage! But because the garage was FULL of "stuff" for the garage sale, to be thrown away, and laundry, nothing else was going to fit in there. So everyone started cleaning it out and making piles in the drive way. Karli was  my designated "arms and back" so I directed her as to where things went and she had to pick up boxes and move them. It really is hard working that way!
HOLLY CRAP there is a lot of Sh*t in there. But we managed to get three piles going, 1) for Laney's stuff, 2) for my stuff and 3) for the garage sale. Guess which one is the biggest? There was several times I began to have an anxiety attack so I just had to excuse myself to my room to lay down and breath!
In order to have a successful garage sale, one must take time in cleaning the items then staging them in categories. Most of the stuff is clean but there is no rhyme or reason to the so called staging. OMG! I'm having a anxieties just thinking about it. I don't see how it will be ready by Friday.
I better make sure I have a fresh batch of brownies ready just in case! Oh I know, having brownies defeats the whole weight loss theory, but some times you just have to say "what the heck". Maybe I should finish reading the book!

FYI~ Garage Sale is this Friday and Saturday starting at 7am till about 1:00pm.

See you here!!!
